Boch - Vase (2) - Changhai - Earthenware, Glaze

A particularly decorative pair of vintage vases from the Belgian pottery factory Boch, executed in the polychrome decoration “Changhai”. Both vases have an elegant, lightly waisted shape with a flared base and broad, wavy top rim. The cream to soft celadon glaze is richly decorated with Asian-inspired scenes of fish, a bird, flowers, bamboo, water waves and stylized clouds. Deep blue outlines are combined with burgundy, green, pink and ochre accents. The decoration is not entirely identical: each vase displays its own composition, making them particularly beautiful together. The bottom of both pieces bears the colored factory mark: “CHANGHAI BOCH BELGIUM Handworked” “Handworked” refers to the manually finished polychrome decoration. The fine variations and small production irregularities are part of the original production process. Dimensions per vase: – Height: approximately 26 cm – Maximum width/diameter: approximately 13 cm Total weight of the pair: approximately 2.77 kg. Condition: Good vintage condition with light aging and signs of use. One vase shows an internal fine hairline starting from the upper rim and running a few centimeters downward. Additionally there is slight wear to the unglazed foot rims and some small glaze and production irregularities. As far as visible, there are no missing pieces or restorations. Please examine the detail photos carefully; they are an integral part of the description. A colorful and particularly decorative Belgian pair that, both individually and together, look excellent in a classic, eclectic or chinoiserie interior. The vases are individually well protected, carefully double-packaged and shipped with tracking.
