Black Opal – a very dark body with spectacular neon green and fiery red

This extraordinary Black Opal captivates with its deep dark blue to almost black base body, serving as an intense stage for an exceptionally vivid and high-contrast play-of-color. Particularly characteristic is the glowing neon green, which sweeps across the surface in broad, curved color zones and changes its shape and intensity depending on the viewing angle. In several areas, this intense green is accompanied by deep blue and turquoise tones, while at the same time spectacular red, orange, and yellow flashes become visible. The strongest contrast arises where the almost black body material meets the extremely bright green—the colors thus appear almost illuminated from within. The stone is especially impressive in the second and third views, in which the red fire stands out clearly and blends with the dominant green to form an exceptionally lively play of color. The fourth image again strikingly shows how strongly the appearance of the opal changes with the incidence of light: a broad, intensely green field runs in an arc across the dark body, while blue and red reflections also appear at the edge areas. The highly polished finish enhances the optical depth and makes the individual color zones stand out especially clearly. Due to its dark body color, this opal possesses an extraordinarily strong color rendition, because even the smallest changes in the viewing angle can reveal new areas of the fascinating color play. The combination of deep blue, intense neon green, electric blue, and strong red and orange makes this specimen a particularly expressive representative of Black Opals. An exceptional natural stone for discerning collectors and lovers of rare opals, which immediately attracts the eye due to its intense color effect, strong contrast, and impressive optical depth.
