Between appointments - Gary Westall

Between appointments by Gary Westall Painting 11.8 x 15.8 :: I was in Nordhorn on business every four weeks. From the customer car park my gaze kept falling on the old church on the market square. This sight became an integral part of my visits: it was familiar to me and yet slightly different depending on the light and the season. I did not paint the church on site. Instead I used a photo I had taken myself as a template. When painting I was not only concerned with the architectural representation but also with the memory of those brief moments of pause between two appointments. The tower stands calm and present against the wide sky framed by autumnal greenery. The painting captures an everyday view that has gained significance over time. Signed lower right.
