DETAILED DESCRIPTION An icon of amateur cinema from the 1930s reborn as a unique, functional work of art. This Bell & Howell Filmo Double Run Eight has undergone cleaning, mechanical and aesthetic restoration guided by more than 30 years of experience in restoring artworks and vintage objects in Florence. The Artistic Concept: "Vintage Sports Tribute" The personalization (external leatherette coating) pays homage to the era of amateur sports filming in the 1930s. In the golden age of slow-motion cinema, enthusiasts sought to capture the speed and dynamism of athletic events, boxing matches, and football games, emulating the major productions of the era's newsreels. Right Side: coordinated graphic depicting an intense and iconic vintage boxing match scene. Left Side: Dynamic action scene of a 1930s American football game. Restoration Technique and Innovative Materials The new leatherette is not a simple decorative film but a high-performance technical material designed and applied to merge philological aesthetic fidelity with exceptional durability: Surface treatment: Cleaning and decontamination of the original metal body from odors and time grime. Tactile and chemical resistance: The coating feels pleasant to the touch, yet is completely impervious to oils, hand sweat, and atmospheric agents. Full Functionality: The material still allows real and practical use of the camera, without risking the preservation of the artistic work over time. Timings were not measured with film, but are estimated to correspond to the original. CONDITION OF THE OBJECT Aesthetics: Excellent/Restored (Unique piece of art/design). Mechanical: The spring wind operates regularly, speed selectors and shutter release respond correctly. Lens: Clean vintage Taylor-Hobson lens, free from deep scratches or evident mold.
