Beautiful old Belgian tricolor, rendered in black, yellow and red and finished around with decorative tricolore wool fringe. The flag measures about 125 × 125 cm and is composed of separately stitched strips of sturdy woven fabric. The finish, the material and the old fringe point to an example from the first half of the 20th century, presumably from the interwar period to early postwar era. This type of flag was used for ceremonial, patriotic or organizational purposes, for example at national holidays, commemorations, parades and official occasions.
