Belen Iglesias Molli - A Dictionary of Color Combinations

A Dictionary of Color Combinations Hand-shaped and hand-painted ceramic piece, with high-temperature stoneware and engobes. The work reproduces volume 2 of the book A Dictionary of Color Combinations. Unique piece signed by the artist at the base. Belén Iglesias Molli (Buenos Aires, 1993) From a very young age she developed a strong artistic inclination, influenced by her father and grandparents, architects and great draftsmen, as well as by her mother, a kindergarten teacher, who instilled in her the love for craftsmanship and manual work. Traveling for her father's work to Japan during the 1990s and her involvement in the construction management of a traditional Japanese house intended to become a contemporary ceramic museum in Argentina (Casa MINKA) sparked an early interest in this culture. The spaces, along with the objects and stories she brought back from her trips, constituted an early and very influential first contact with the Japanese atmosphere and sensitivity. This bond came to be solidified during her training in architecture —graduating in 2017 from the University of Buenos Aires— and upon starting her ceramic practice in the workshop of Maximiliano Abbiati, Argentine ceramist and professor at the National University of the Arts. In 2019 her growing interest in ceramics led her to move to Valencia, a city close to Manises, a historic ceramics hub and home to the International Biennial of Ceramics. Between 2022 and 2025 she participated in small group shows and continued to develop her practice in various workshops until opening her own in 2026, where she currently carries out all of her works. With a training deeply shaped by architecture, drawing, and Japanese culture, her ceramic work dialogues with objects of Asian origin that present themselves as cultural artifacts capable of condensing identity, memory, and desire. With a special interest in the idea of the traveling object, it crosses cultural barriers, accumulates layers of meaning, and transforms its value and presence over time and context. Her pieces are shaped and painted by hand in stoneware and engobes of high temperature, through a slow and meticulous process, in tension with the consumer logic associated with the objects they represent, reconfiguring their value and presence.
