Beatles - Revolver (UK) – RARE E.J

A particularly interesting early UK mono pressing of The Beatles' Revolver, released on the classic black and yellow Parlophone label under catalogue number PMC 7009. This is the second UK mono pressing, carrying the XEX 605-2 / XEX 606-4 matrices. What makes this copy especially attractive is the combination of the considerably scarcer Ernest J. Day & Co. sleeve together with the early "Dr. Robert" variation appearing on both the record label and the sleeve. The track would subsequently appear as "Doctor Robert" on corrected labels, making the surviving "Dr. Robert" label variation an interesting detail for collectors of the many early UK Revolver variants. The E.J. Day sleeve is also much less commonly encountered than the Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve normally seen with UK copies. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): A nice example of the much scarcer E.J. Day & Co. flipback sleeve. The flipbacks remain clean and the sleeve presents very well overall. There is some writing or inscription impressed into the upper flipback, with a small amount faintly visible from the front, but it is not particularly obtrusive → VG+ Inner Sleeve: Original inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG+): The vinyl retains a nice original gloss and shows normal signs of play. There are some superficial marks and playwear, including a longer visible mark on Side 1. Importantly, this mark is not feelable. Overall the record remains a very respectable VG+ example → VG+ ⸻ Details * UK mono pressing * Parlophone PMC 7009 * Black and yellow Parlophone labels * "Dr. Robert" on label and sleeve * Scarce E.J. Day & Co. laminated flipback sleeve * Original inner sleeve included * XEX 605-2 / XEX 606-4 matrices ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * Side 1: XEX 605-2 / 6 GPL * Side 2: XEX 606-4 / 4 GAD
