BALDASSARI (Anne) Picasso the Photographer - Lot 25

BALDASSARI (Anne) Picasso the Photographer Paris, Réunion des Musées Nationaux, 1994. Catalog of the exhibition devoted to a long-overlooked aspect of Pablo Picasso’s work: his practice of photography during the formative years of his career. Through a collection of photographs, studio documents, portraits, and visual experiments, the book reveals the importance of the photographic medium in the development of his artistic vision. This publication highlights the connections between photography, drawing, and painting in the young Picasso’s work, while documenting his family environment, his studios, and his early artistic explorations. The essays by Anne Baldassari, then curator of the Musée Picasso, shed essential light on this rarely studied facet of the artist. A richly illustrated catalog that has become a standard reference work on Picasso’s relationship with photography.
