Attributed to Pedro de Orrente (Murcia, baptized on April 18, 1580-Valencia

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions 89 × 117 cm. The scene depicts the parable of the Good Samaritan, a theme with strong moral weight that became popular in Christian art. The Samaritan, dressed in earthen garments and with a compassionate expression, attends to the injured man in the foreground, surrounded by a landscape that is a transition between rural and urban. The composition is notable for the empathetic interaction between the two figures and the presence of the donkey, which adds narrative authenticity. The anatomical modeling, the treatment of the drapery folds, and the warm colors indicate a style characteristic of 17th-century Spanish painting. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
