Artista di scuola Nathdwara - Kṛṣṇa e Rādhā nel Monte Govardhan

Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā on Govardhan Hill, India, Nathdwara School, 19th century Delicious Indian miniature coming from the Nathdwara painting school depicting the intimate meeting between Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā inside a cave located on the sacred Govardhan Hill near Mathura (Uttar Pradesh). The composition stands out for a refined chromatic sensitivity and a naturalistic elaboration that blends late Mughal elements with European influences clearly visible in the atmospheric and landscape rendering. The hilly landscape that envelops the couple is painted with a softly ascending perspective animated by lush vegetation, lotus flowers in the foreground and birds in flight, opening up to a deep view of a temple in the background. The luminous rendering and the preciousness of the details, such as reflections on the waters and the shading of the fabrics, confirm the quality of the work attributable to the devotional artistic milieu of the Śrīnathjī temple, where Kṛṣṇa is venerated as the Lord of Govardhan Mountain.
