An essential figure on the Lyon scene, she developed from the 1950s a deeply sensitive work, nourished by the observation of reality and an inner quest for light. Trained at the École des Beaux‑Arts de Lyon, she quickly asserted herself with a subtle pictorial writing, where drawing rigor dialogues with a velvety, almost whispered palette. Her universe, made of silent landscapes, meditative still lifes, and intimate scenes, reveals an artist attentive to the vibrations of daily life. Prokhoroff paints less to describe than to bring about an atmosphere, a presence. Her compositions, of great accuracy, seduce by their balance, restraint, and emotional depth. Recognized by her peers, exhibited in several Lyonnais galleries and regional collections, Ariane Prokhoroff leaves a rare, demanding body of work, of great coherence. Today, her paintings attract collectors seeking sincere, quiet, inhabited painting — a painting that does not seek effect, but the truth of the gaze.
