Apple ITT 2020 – Rare Apple-licensed European Apple II...

Description: A rare and highly collectible ITT 2020, an officially Apple-licensed European computer based on the Apple II architecture. The ITT 2020 was produced for the European market around 1979/1980 and was specifically adapted for the PAL television standard. It is one of the earliest officially licensed Apple II-compatible computers and is considerably rarer than a standard Apple II. This example is particularly interesting because it retains its original PALSOFT configuration, including the original Apple-marked ROM chips. The motherboard also contains the original 6502 processor and period-correct memory and logic chips. The original factory identification label is still present: ITT 2020 SP116 ITT Consumer Products (UK) Ltd. Chester Hall Lane, Basildon, Essex, England PAL SOFT – 8/1851 The handwritten number 10751 is present on the original factory label. The computer is in original vintage condition and shows normal signs of age and use. The original labels, stickers, components and casing have been preserved. Condition: The computer has not been fully tested. The previous owner stated that the power supply is not working, therefore the machine is offered as untested / for restoration. It has not been modified or converted to a modern power supply. Included is the ITT 2020 computer as pictured, together with the ITT Disk II drive shown in the photographs. A very unusual piece of early European computer history, especially interesting for collectors of Apple II, ITT, early personal computers and vintage computing. The motherboard retains its original ROM configuration, including several Apple-marked ROM chips specifically associated with the ITT 2020 PALSOFT system. The visible ROM set includes: Apple 341-0021-00 — D0 Apple 341-0022-00 — D8 Apple 341-0023-00 — E0 Apple 341-0024-00 — E8 Apple 341-0025-00 — F0 Apple 341-0020-00 — F8, the Autostart Monitor ROM The motherboard also retains its original 6502-family CPU, together with period-correct MCM4116 DRAM memory chips and numerous original TTL logic ICs.
