Antique wooden Beretanden / Bereklauwen (2) - Wood

An original set of two heavy, solid hardwood beretanden / bereklauwen with beautifully hand-carved shell motifs. Solid wood with a warm varnish layer. Detailed shell cutouts on the heads of the spindles. Furnished with pre-drilled holes and steel/brass threaded bushings for an extremely sturdy attachment. Ergonomically curved profile, ideal for mounting on the stem or bow of a ship. Beretanden are a typical feature of traditional Dutch inland navigation and fishing ships (flat-bottom boats) from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th century. In good used and authentic condition with a nicely patinated, well-worn look. Many photos added so the condition can be assessed. Also a photo with a pen to indicate the size. Photos are part of the description. Both will be packed very carefully, sent registered and insured with a track and trace code. See my other lots as well and potentially save on shipping costs. Not shipped to the United States.
