Antique Stained glass window - 1950-1960 - Dutch windmill

Stained glass panel with windmill – colorful landscape in a green surround A mill that catches the light! This decorative stained glass panel combines a detailed mill scene with a bright green border and four sunny yellow corner pieces. The dark outlines of the sails stand out powerfully against the blue sky and white clouds, while warm browns and a red brick base give the scene character. The scene invites close inspection: the wooden mill case, the lines of the sails, the stairs, and the green landscape are carefully depicted. The central image is painted on the glass; the surrounding colored glass pieces are separated from each other by lead profiles. That combination of a glass picture and colored pieces in lead aligns with the stained glass tradition. The Victoria and Albert Museum describes how colored and painted glass is joined with lead strips to form a single panel. The exact decorative technique, maker, and dating of this piece have not been established. For a window, the interplay of color and daylight comes into its own particularly beautifully. A atmospheric accent for a rural or classical interior, and an attractive object for lovers of mills and decorative glass art.
