The piece in hand-engraved silvered metal (or silver, but not tested) depicts in bas-relief the Virgin Mary seated on a throne while holding the Baby Jesus, surrounded by a refined frame worked with geometric and stylized vegetal motifs, Russia late XVIII century. This kind of object, rooted in Eastern Christian tradition, was traditionally used as a personal devotional medallion or as a liturgical object. The care of the details in the metal repoussé and the depth of the volumes give the piece a strong spiritual and aesthetic charge.
