This necklace made of more than eight carats of diamonds in platinum shines brightly and delicately. A large bow forms the center of the design. Sparkling pendants are attached below. Elegantly curved leaves connect to the right and left and turn the arrangement into a necklace. When worn, the necklace appears to consist of nothing but light: All surfaces are white, even the clasp bears a diamond in the center of a platinum ornament. The individual shapes, the large bow and the little leaves are typical of jewellery from the years around 1900. The rich, often over-rich taste of the parents' generation had gone out of fashion; the new designs were lighter and more cheerful than anything before. The new style elevated elegant tendrils and leaf motifs to its trademark: we know it today as the "Garland style". It was a new fashion that drew on the aesthetics of late 18th century rococo, but without copying them. Rather, the goldsmiths of the time succeeded in creating a completely unique style that was entirely modern in its finesse of execution. This necklace corresponds to this fashion. The cuts of the diamonds and the other details of the workmanship also indicate that it was created around 1910. An independent appraisal of the diamonds is included with the necklace.
