Antique Crucifix - Cast iron - 1850-1900 - Antique...

An impressive and richly decorated old cast-iron crucifix standing about 130 cm tall. The cross features a particularly handsome openwork design with extensive ornamentation. In the center is the figure of Christ, and in the lower part there are two angel figures incorporated. The graceful form and numerous decorative details give the piece a distinctly ecclesiastical and monumental character. Based on the design, construction, and comparison with similar examples, it appears to be a European, possibly French, cast-iron grave or devotional cross from the 19th century. An exact provenance and dating are not documented and are therefore not stated as definite. With a height of about 130 cm and a width of about 72 cm, this is a notably large example. Due to its age, the cast iron has developed a clear natural patina and a weathered finish. This has been intentionally preserved and contributes to the authentic character of the object. The photos are part of the description and show in detail the ornamentation, patina, condition, and underside. Specifications: * Height: approx. 130 cm * Width: approx. 72 cm * Material: cast iron * Openwork and richly decorated construction * Christ figure * Two angel figures * Natural antique patina * Suspected 19th century * Possibly French origin * Concrete mounting/remaining piece on the underside A particularly large religious object for a collector of church or religious antiquities. Because of its size and the rich ornamentation, it can also serve as a striking decorative piece in a chapel, church, monumental building, garden, or distinctive interior. The crucifix is offered in its current, unrestored condition. Please review all photos carefully; they form an important part of the condition description.
