Andrew Jackson Signed Ship's Passport

Large four-language ship's passport signed by President Andrew Jackson and Secretary of State Edward Livingston, issued in 1834 for the American vessel Forester, commanded by Edward G. Clark of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Printed in French, Spanish, English and Dutch, the document authorized the vessel to travel internationally under the protection of the United States and bears Jackson's large signature prominently near the center. An impressive maritime document from Jackson's second presidential term, retaining its embossed seal and numerous manuscript entries recording the vessel and its voyage.
