Anderson, Texas. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 624. First NB. Charter #7337. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30. Named for Kenneth Lewis Anderson who served as Vice President of the Republic of Texas under Anson Jones for roughly eight months between 1844 and 1845, Anderson is a tough prospect for collectors as a "one-bank town" which records only 17 non-institutional notes overall in the National Bank Note Census. There this mid-grade $10 Plain Back issued during the 1920s is one of just four survivors for this prolific type recorded on the First National Bank of Anderson (Charter# 7337) and carries signatures attributable to Cashier Gary Thomas and President J.H. Kennard while a few scattered stains are present. Nonetheless, bidders are faced here with a rare opportunity to be had. The last time any of those four survivors traded hands before 2024 was 2010 making this one of the many great opportunities the Copeland holdings affords collectors. Estimate: $1,250 - $1,750. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
