Roman Empire Bronze Bust of a Youthful Male – 1st to 3rd Century AD A cast bronze bust of a youthful male with large almond-shaped eyes, a prominent straight nose and softly modelled lips. A close-fitting cap or helmet is marked with incised bands above the forehead. The elongated neck rises from a circular flange with a mounting lug, suggesting that the bust once formed part of a larger fitting or decorative object. Its exact identity and original use remain uncertain. The bronze retains a green patina with areas of mineral encrustation and surface wear.
