Batch of six Roman plate fibulae in copper/bronze alloy – 2nd–3rd centuries CE. Interesting set of six Roman plate fibulae made from a copper/bronze alloy, belonging to different geometric variants used as fasteners and decorative elements of clothing during the Roman Empire. Predominant are rhomboid and diamond shapes, with ends finished in small globular buttons and central decoration through circular reliefs, concentric rings, and stepped geometric fields. One piece features an elegant lancet profile with lateral notches and a pronounced longitudinal rib. Especially notable are the two rhomboidal fibulae of greater development, provided with a umb o central disk, as well as the specimens with concentric square panels. On several pieces there are traces of old reddish decoration, possibly corresponding to enamel or inlay material. The reverses preserve to varying degrees the original needle, hinge, and receiving plate systems, clearly indicating their function as fibulae. This type of rhomboidal plate brooches, frequently decorated with enamels and small peripheral terminals, is well documented during the 2nd century CE, with variants continuing into the early 3rd century. Archaeological parallels precisely describe rhomboidal examples with buttons at the vertices, enameled fields, and central concentric decoration. Chronology: Roman Empire, predominantly 2nd century CE, possibly until early 3rd century CE. Material: copper/bronze alloy; possible enamel remains. Number of pieces: 6. Measurements: from approximately 26 × 15 mm (smallest) to 33 × 25 mm (largest). Condition: archaeological preservation, with patina and surface deposits, minor wear and losses consistent with antiquity; later mechanisms preserved wholly or partially depending on the piece. A particularly attractive group for bringing together six variants of Roman plate fibulae, preserved as a group and representative of provincial jewelry-making and personal adornment of the High Empire.
