An unsigned or dated late 18th / early 19th century fine cross stitch Adam and Eve sampler. Worked on linen, in thin silk coloured threads and fine stitches, with a large central depiction of the serpent in the tree with Adam and Eve either side surrounded by symbolic and decorative spot motifs, sampler 33cm x 20.5cm. Condition; there is damage to the backing linen, either side in the flower urns, luckily the stitching is only very slightly affected and there is fading to certain original colours. Overall the damage is not distracting to the imagery.
