ot your doll - 46 (n.762) Measurements are: - collage: 50.00 x 40.00 cm Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest works realized. On these little pieces of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there. Often it happens this way when we truly approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series in which I intend to represent women’s faces with features recalling the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, I am your doll and you can do with me whatever you want" with everything that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, violence. The surface features small reliefs and I enjoy caressing it, feeling it... I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust. This work is unique and original. Each work is safely packed, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. A tracking number for the shipment is provided. This piece will be shipped unframed and unstretched because the work will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the larger surface will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork value. Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long stop, lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I am also pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings is glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that – over time – grow on the surface. The passing time is the main theme of my works. Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible both by touch and to the naked eye. Recently, after several years during which my works were made from pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting but the more you move away, the more a figure portrait composed of many painted wooden discs emerges. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce faces of women, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and they cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
