Japy Oval Mechanical Alarm Clock – Art Deco Style – France, circa 1930-1940 Stunning vintage Japy mechanical alarm clock, oval in shape, made in France and dating from approximately the 1930s-1940s. This piece features a design particularly representative of Art Deco aesthetics, with its geometric lines, balanced shapes and decorative details characteristic of the era. The cream / light beige dial is equipped with large black Arabic numerals in a stylized typography, offering excellent legibility. At 12 o'clock there is a small hexagonal-shaped subdial for setting the alarm function. The chromed metal case is topped with a prominent arched handle that facilitates handling of the clock. It rests on two ogive-shaped stabilizing feet, giving the piece an elegant, distinctly retro silhouette. The inscription “MADE IN FRANCE” is visible on the lower part of the dial. Overall, this is a fine example of French domestic clockmaking from the first half of the 20th century, particularly interesting for Art Deco enthusiasts and vintage mechanical alarm clocks.
