In a first phase he worked as a draftsman, depicting imaginary subjects and staging characters, more or less monstrous, drawn realistically. From 1974 to 1975 he studied wood sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris; but this technique did not meet his expectations. He also practiced a little acrylic and oil painting, but his great revelation was the discovery of watercolor in 1983. "Whereas I had previously regarded it as a minor technique, it quickly hooked me." With his watercolors, Alain AZEMAR participated in numerous exhibitions from 1985 onward: Group exhibitions and fairs such as: the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Salon de l’École Française Regional salons: Sèvres, Ville d’Avray, Versailles… Solo exhibitions: La Galerie de la Geôle in Versailles, Galerie Médicis in Paris, Galerie Tuffier in Les Andelys, Evreux; and at the municipal media library of Sèvres.
