African iron coin, early 20th century - African Art

Descriptio Chiseled metal with a turned wooden base. Measures 53 x 17 x 7 cm. A vertical piece with a strong sculptural presence, formed by a cut and engraved metal sheet with a curved profile and semicircular edge, mounted on a turned wooden support for display. The surface features linear incisions and rhythmic textures that reinforce its ritual and ornamental character, while the design synthesizes functionality, symbolism, and visual power. The silhouette is reminiscent of coin-axe models or prestige emblems linked to Central African traditions, where worked metal acquires social and ceremonial significance. The piece offers a clear museographic interpretation, highlighting the graphic quality of the chiseling and the abstract force of its profile. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
