Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride and, throughout history, has been used by many peoples and cultures to create artistic objects. Its impurities give it a wide variety of colors, a characteristic that, in medieval times, earned it the name “stone flower.” This mineral is famous for the effect called fluorescence, which bears its name. Some of its varieties, in fact, glow under UV light. The photos were taken in natural sunlight.
