Japan, Meiji period, H 173 cm. (without lance). A 32-plate iron helmet, a five-part shikoro (neck guard) made of wooden plates, and a crest in the shape of a gilded dragon’s head. Body armour made of lacquered wood, reinforced with iron at the top, laced in blue, with printed leather edging. Iron menpô (face mask) with a five-part neck guard (shikoro).
