A ROMAN GILTWOOD AND WHITE PAINTED SIDE TABLE, ITALIAN, LATE 18TH CENTURY

A ROMAN GILTWOOD AND WHITE PAINTED SIDE TABLE ITALIAN, LATE 18TH CENTURY The florito alabaster veneered top above a frieze decorated with flower scrolling urns and birds amongst scrolling foliage, on turned fluted legs headed with stiff leaf capitals 91cm high, 111cm wide, 56cm deep Condition Report: Good, structurally secure with wear and tear consistent with age and use. There are dents marks and scratches and shrinkage cracks throughout. The alabastro top in generally good order with typically uneven surface and a few edge nibbles, notably to the right front and rear corners. The alabastro laid on a stone substrate and typically laid in sections. The table base is sturdy, the painted and gilded decoration worn and chipped, there are small losses to the carved decoration eg, leaf tips. The legs rather crudely nailed to the frieze rails (apparently original), the flat corners struts apparently original and with some old (inactive) worm, the centre strut likewise apparently original. Overall a good looking table in good and honest condition.
