A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY SERPENTINE FRONTED KNIFE BOXES CIRCA 1780 Each with crossbanding and satinwood stringing, the tops opening to fitted interiors 36cm high, 23cm wide, 26cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use Some old chips and splits. There is some variation to the discolouration of the brass fittings. There are no keys, the locks are open. The green baize applied to the bases is later, one section of the base is loose. The serpentine fronts are of pleasing line and shape with fiddleback mahogany cleverly used to the concave sections contrasting with the flame veneers.
