“Gracia” This mixed media work explores the boundary between the human figure and abstraction. Through a composition focused on the face and the delicate gesture of the hands, the piece invites the viewer to a serene introspective experience. The elevated chin and the elegance of the posture convey confidence, dignity, and openness, while the hands become a subtle language of expression and presence. The title, Gracia, refers to that quality that transcends appearance: a way of inhabiting oneself with serenity, elegance, and authenticity. The figure is not presented from fragility, but from a conscious and affirmative presence, where the dialogue between color, matter, and form builds a feminine image that finds beauty in its own essence and projects a sense of elevation, fullness, and inner freedom. Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylics, and life drawing—foundations that later would give shape to her conceptual signature. Her early years of career unfolded amid the Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions she earned numerous prizes and mentions. AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that catches the eye instantly. However, her proposal does not stop at mere photographic mimesis. On an anatomy worked with rigor or faces laden with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or attire laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity. This fusion between technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in: Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism. United States: Integrated into private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art. Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries. Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by the technical rigor and the school of realism. Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, the country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from the fast commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool of universal introspection. Her studio today is a space of constant creation, where each brushstroke continues to reveal those truths and hidden icons that we all carry inside, but that we often find hard to see.
