19th Century, of tapering cylindrical form in two hinged sections, the white ground painted in colours with trailing swags and scattered sprigs of roses, carnations, forget-me-nots and berried branches, the domed cover painted with an exotic bird with a crimson crest and long tail feathers amid flowering branches and enamelled beneath with a flower spray, the silver mounts chased with bands of stiff leaves and struck with French assay marks, the lower compartment lined in red, contained in a fitted leather case, the lid lined in silk and stamped in gilt with a Paris retailer's inscription. 5.5cm long
