Teardrop cabochon of translucent dendritic agate from India, 40.78 carats, with magnificent inclusions. It is set in silver metal and mounted on a modern 925 sterling silver cord-type chain. Exclusive variety of translucent agate with a magnificent miniature landscape of manganese oxide dendrites. This gem belongs to the quartz family (chalcedony). Its transparency is due to a pure infiltration of liquid silica into cavities of volcanic rocks. As the silica slowly crystallized, iron- and manganese-oxide-rich solutions filtered through microcracks, branching like roots or ferns, creating the illusion of a Japanese painting trapped inside the crystal.
