3 Sucesores de Spratling Silver Shakers & 5 Dishes

Latin America, Mexico, Taxco, ca. 1967 to 1979 CE. A handsome and highly usable group of William Spratling tableware, this lot brings Taxco modernism to the dining table in the most charming way possible. The set includes three silver and rosewood shakers, accompanied by four shallow sterling dishes, all unified by Spratling's signature balance of clean geometry, warm material contrast, and meticulous craftsmanship. The shakers are crafted in dark, faceted rosewood bodies capped with smooth sterling tops, their profiles alternating between stout and tall forms. Subtle silver studs and bands accent the wood, creating a crisp rhythm of light against the rich, almost espresso-toned grain. The four sterling dishes provide an elegant complement, their simple, shallow forms designed for salts, condiments, or small table service, and finished with the restrained polish that defines Taxco silver at its best. Size of largest: 2.3" Diameter x 3.6" H (5.8 cm x 9.1 cm); silver quality: sterling; total weight: 468.4 grams Each piece is marked with the "William Spratling / Taxco, Mexico" stamp encircling the WS signature initials and "925" for silver purity. These marks indicate production after Spratling's death in 1967. Notably, the pieces are not stamped with the "T-24" mark, indicating manufacture prior to 1979. This group was produced by Sucesores de William Spratling, the Successors of William Spratling - the official workshop that continued producing Spratling-designed work in Taxco after his death. Together, the pieces represent a refined continuation of Spratling's design legacy, combining functional tableware with the unmistakable visual language of one of Mexico's most influential workshops. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 201178
