With a weight of 257 grams, it is a wonderful premium exhibit that combines paleontological significance with artistic value. The whitish structures in the skull clearly show the bone matrix of a dinosaur. The material comes from the world-famous Morrison Formation in Utah, USA. This geological layer is known for finds from the Late Jurassic period (about 145–155 million years ago). There were perfect conditions there, where silica (agate/quartz) replaced dinosaur bones so colorfully and crystal-clear, while the original biological structure remained preserved. This skull shows the typical "hallmarks" of finds from the Utah deserts: a fascinating combination of warm brown tones, genuine agate, and light, almost whitish bone cells. The cellular structure (osteon matrix) is excellently preserved throughout the piece and also clearly visible when enlarged. Dinosaur species: Based on the deposit layer and bone structure, the material most likely comes from one of the gigantic sauropods (long-neck dinosaurs) such as Brachiosaurus or Diplodocus. Quality: The surface is high-gloss polished, which beautifully showcases the translucency of the agate under direct light. The mesh-like veins or honeycomb patterns are the so-called Haversian canals. In living dinosaurs, blood vessels and nerves ran through some of these canals to nourish the bone. You are basically looking directly at the conserved circulatory system of a dinosaur – the fine channels now filled with agate – blood vessels of the saurian..
