Discover a selection of six bottles of red and white Saint-Joseph, from the renowned Rhône Valley estates of Yves Cuilleron, Stéphane Montez, and Lionel Faury. Yves Cuilleron : 1) Saint-Joseph Les Pierres Sèches 2024 100% Syrah A blend from various plots that expresses the freshness and distinctive character of the terroir. The name of this cuvée pays homage to the dry-stone walls that dot the vineyards of the Northern Rhône Valley. The color is a purplish red that evokes power and freshness. The nose is crisp with juicy, tangy red fruits; notes of pepper evoke the typical character of Syrah. The palate is seductive and balanced, with the fruit expressing freshness and richness. A Saint-Joseph that is a pleasure to drink, whether enjoyed for its youthful aromas or as it ages from 5 years onward. Pair with a veal steak served with chanterelle mushrooms and sautéed new potatoes. 2) Saint-Joseph Lyseras 2025 This wine has a bright yellow color. The nose reveals ripe yellow fruits with notes of citrus and honey. The palate is rich and fresh. Composed of equal parts Roussanne and Marsanne, this blend from plots located in the northern communes of the appellation is aged for nine months in barrels and casks. Best enjoyed young, when the fruity aromas are at their peak. Food and wine pairing: Enjoy with cod en papillote and cherry tomato confit. Stéphane Montez : 3) Saint-Joseph Cuvée du Papy 2023 The Saint-Joseph Cuvée du Papy 2023 stands out with its deep, brilliant red color. It reveals aromas of ripe red and black fruits, pepper, and fine spices, with subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is silky, structured, and well-balanced, with a long, elegant finish. This wine seduces with its refinement and aging potential. It is made from 100% Syrah grapes. The 2023 vintage benefited from favorable weather conditions, allowing for a healthy and perfectly ripe harvest. This wine reflects the full potential of this remarkable year, combining balance, finesse, and expression of the terroir. The Domaine du Monteillet, renowned in the Rhône Valley for its elegant and balanced wines, emphasizes traditional viticulture and careful vinification in order to reveal the typical characteristics of its terroirs. Located in the northern Rhône, the vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate with continental influences and clay-limestone soils that are ideal for Syrah. Sustainable vine cultivation guarantees high-quality grapes in every vintage. Food and wine pairings: Saint-Joseph Cuvée du Papy 2023 is the perfect accompaniment to grilled or sauced red meats, game, duck, and mature cheeses. 4) White Saint-Joseph 2024 The Saint-Joseph Blanc from Domaine du Monteillet, produced by Stéphane Montez, stands out with its light straw-yellow color verging on gold, bright and clear. The nose is expressive and generous, marked by aromas of ripe fruit (yellow nectarine, pear), white flowers (broom) and orange peel, enhanced by a subtle mineral note brought by the granite terroir. On the palate, the attack is lively and balanced, carried by a beautiful natural tension. The wine is full-bodied and silky, supported by a controlled freshness. The slightly bitter finish adds complexity and prolongs the tasting experience with notes of citrus and fine spices. Made from a blend of 65% Roussanne and 35% old Marsanne vines, this white wine perfectly embodies the balance between richness, elegance, and minerality typical of the Monteillet style. The 2024 vintage, characterized by balanced weather conditions, produces a vibrant and harmonious wine, where mineral tension supports the delicious fruit. Food and wine pairings: Ideal with a seafood salad with scallops, freshwater or saltwater fish (trout, crayfish, sole meunière), or roast poultry. It also pairs very well with Saint-Marcellin cheese bricks with thyme and hazelnuts. Lionel Faury : 5) Red Saint-Joseph Les Ribaudes 2023 Saint-Joseph « Les Ribaudes » is a red wine from the northern part of the appellation, crafted from 100% Syrah grown on the granitic soils of the Velay across a mosaic of 17 parcels. It reveals a vibrant aromatic profile of wild red berries, enhanced by spicy and subtly smoky, bacon-like notes. The palate is generous and lively, opening on dark forest fruits, complemented by refined menthol and licorice nuances. Between 35% and 70% whole clusters are fermented in open concrete vats over three weeks, with alternating punch-downs and pump-overs using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then gravity-filled into large oak vessels (foudres and demi-muids) for 15 to 18 months of aging. Final blending occurs two months before bottling, which is carried out by gravity without fining or filtration. Food and wine pairings: In its youth, pairs beautifully with artisanal charcuterie boards, as well as pork or veal. With age, it complements more robust dishes such as grilled duck breast, leg of lamb, or slow-cooked lamb shoulder. 6) White Saint-Joseph Les Ribaudes 2024 Aromas of acacia and honeysuckle, supported by hints of almonds and hazelnuts, are provided by Marsanne, which also brings structure and integrity to the wine. Delicate notes of hawthorn, green tea, and flower honey come from Roussanne, which brings amplitude and depth to the palate. Grape varieties and plots are harvested separately. Pressing takes place as soon as possible after harvesting to preserve the integrity of the aromas. Fermentation in stainless steel vats (indigenous yeasts), then racking of part of the wine into barrels used for 1 to 7 wines. Malolactic fermentation (indigenous bacteria). Blending approximately one month before bottling. Food and wine pairings: Can be enjoyed young as an aperitif or with a spring starter, or after a few years of aging with a more elaborate dish.
