Very lightly developed, again calm, softly sweet yellow fruit with nutty and vegetal to herbal notes, moderate acidity, some persistence on the palate, a touch of finesse, a hint of perfumed, background tart stony-salty minerality, a very good, fairly firm finish with a slight sweetness, but also a harsh spiciness. Winery Allendorf on Charta Wein: The vineyard: Charta is a selection from our best sites. In Winkel and Geisenheim our grapes grow on 30- to 50-year-old vines. The base wines for this high-quality cuvée come exclusively from the classified VDP.Große Lagen. The idea: the criteria for Charta wines, established since 1983 and oriented toward the tradition of proven Rheingau quality concepts, have significantly contributed to drawing a recognizable image of Rheingau Rieslings. Charta thus forms the pioneer of the VDP.Grosses Gewächs. Historically, the big brother; in taste, the little sister of our GGs. In the offered wine, there may be sediment and/or natural deposits. ! Aged WINE: General notes on aged wines, old wines, and wine rarities: Wine is a natural product that can undergo changes in taste and color over decades of storage. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the drinkability or faultless taste of old wines. However, we handle the purchase of these wines with utmost care, verify optimal storage conditions, check the bottle history where possible, and perform visual checks of the bottle contents for cloudiness and consistency changes. As mentioned, older, aged wines change their original taste over decades of storage and may develop a mature character. White wines often darken in color (similar to cognac, sherry, or amber) and can form sediments; red wines often develop a sediment at the bottle bottom. An appearance and taste experience different from young wines is not unusual for aged wines. For wine drinkers who have problems with the sometimes fresh, pronounced acidity of young wines, aged wines can be a real pleasure as the wine acidity loses strength and aggressiveness over the years.
