A fitting name for a wine that combines strength and ripeness with the elegance and refinement for which Ornellaia is renowned worldwide. Ornellaia is produced on the estate of the same name in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast. The wine is a classic Bordeaux blend, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The individual grape varieties and plots are vinified separately, and the wine undergoes a long maturation in French oak barriques. The 2019 vintage is particularly successful: intense and layered, with aromas of dark ripe fruit, black currant, blackberry and cherry, complemented by cedarwood, tobacco, spices, cocoa and a fine mineral note. On the palate, powerful and concentrated, yet refined, with ripe tannins, freshness and a very long finish. A wine that is already impressive, but also possesses excellent aging potential and will develop further in the coming years.
