Pira & Figli - Chiara Boschis) Historical Origins: The E. Pira & Figli winery is a historic wine estate in Barolo, with traditions dating back to the late 19th century. For decades, it was managed by the Pira family, traditional winemakers deeply tied to the region. The Arrival of Chiara Boschis: In 1990, following the passing of the last representative of the Pira family, the winery was acquired by Chiara Boschis and her family (who already owned the historic Borgogno winery). First Female Barolo Producer: Chiara Boschis was one of the very few female figures to lead a Barolo estate during a predominantly male-dominated era. She became a key member of the famous "Barolo Boys", a group of young winemakers who revolutionized Barolo in the 1990s by focusing on low yields, meticulous cellar cleanliness, and elegance. Sustainability and Organic Certification: Chiara Boschis was a pioneer of sustainable viticulture, spearheading the organic conversion of all her vineyards (certified since 2014) and promoting organic farming among growers throughout the Cannubi area.
