2011 Cappellano Oitin Fiorin Pie' Rupestris - Piedmont DOCG - 1 Magnum (1.5L)

Giuseppe Cappellano's Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris 2011 is a legendary red wine of deeply traditional character, coming from the historic Gabutti cru located in Serralunga d'Alba, Piedmont. This Barolo represents one of the craft expressions of the Langhe, renowned for its longevity, power, and stylistic rigor. Main Characteristics of Piè Rupestris 2011 The Vineyard and Origin: Produced 100% with Nebbiolo grapes from old vines planted in the 1940s. The name "Piè Rupestris" indicates that the vines are grafted on American rootstock (Vitis Rupestris), differentiating it from the even rarer and more exclusive Piè Franco (from ungrafted vines). Traditional Vinification: Follows the rigidly classic philosophy of the Cappellano family. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement vats for about 2-3 weeks, followed by a long aging of at least 3 years (around 36 months) in large oak casks, with no clarification or filtration. Sensory Profile: Color: Deep ruby red that evolves toward garnet and orange reflections with age. Nose: Complex and layered, it opens with notes of ripe red fruit (cherry, strawberry) before evolving toward balsamic aromas, withered violet, sweet spices, undergrowth, leather, and tobacco. Palate: Powerful and austere structure typical of the Serralunga terroir. The tannins, though solid and integral, are smoothed by time and supported by a splendid freshness and saltiness, guiding toward a very long and coherent finish. The Vintage 2011: A generally warm year that delivered a beautiful fruit concentration and optimal tannic maturity, making the wine slightly more enveloping in its youth while preserving the monumental aging potential intact.
