Hermitage blanc 2009 from the E. Guigal estate embodies all the sunny character of the northern Rhône Valley in an elegant, luminous interpretation. The wine is mainly made from Marsanne, sometimes blended with Roussanne, which gives it a seductive aromatic palette. In this 2009 vintage, fairly warm, the wine reveals ripe notes of pear, vineyard peach, acacia honey, punctuated by floral touches of chamomile, and sometimes a hint of anise that betrays its terroir. The palate preserves a suave freshness, with a lush texture and a long finish, marked by the fruit’s sweetness and a fine minerality inherited from alluvial soils intermingled with pebbles and loess.
