2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina - Less than 13,700km from new - Sold new by Pozzi, has remained in France ever since - Well preserved, sold with its original helmets - Very rare, no. 311 of the 448 cars built - An open-top V12 Ferrari that is still within reach Only 448 Ferrari 550 Barchettas were built by the manufacturer to celebrate Pininfarina’s 70th anniversary, and the example we are offering, with less than 13,700km recorded from new, has the number 311 engraved on the centre console. For an anniversary of this magnitude, Ferrari didn’t hold back. Featuring a masterful design—by Pininfarina, of course—and in the tradition of Ferrari’s most prestigious convertibles, the car was powered by a splendid 5.5-liter V12 engine producing 485 ch, which allowed this machine to join the very exclusive “over 300 km/h” club. As can be seen from its Ferrari international assistance booklet, this 550 Barchetta was sold new in November 2001 by the Charles Pozzi dealership in Levallois. Its first owner was none other than André Cholley, a passionate motorsport enthusiast and owner of a Peugeot 905, who later took over the AGS Formula 1 team based at the Circuit du Luc. As can be seen from the certificate of sale, he sold the car in 2007 to a M. Lesur, a collector in the Pas-de-Calais. Lesur in turn sold it to another enthusiast in the region, M. Guchez, who had it maintained by the renowned workshop Madou Compétition in Seclin. During this period, a stainless steel exhaust that was less restrictive than the original system was fitted, to produce a more exhilarating sound. It was from Madou Compétition that the current owner, a Ferrari enthusiast and organiser of events in northern France dedicated to the marque, bought the car in 2013, with barely 11,600km recorded since new. The owner of several Ferraris, he took great care of the Barchetta while using it relatively little and only in good weather; he continued to have it maintained by Madou Compétition, who replaced the two timing belts in 2024. This sparing use explains the current condition of the car, which, with just 13,700km recorded since new, has immaculate Rosso Corsa paintwork and a well-preserved interior with attractive black seats with red stitching and a few signs of wear on the Alcantara covering the transmission tunnel, as can happen on this model. It should be noted that the paintwork has a lovely shine and has recently been given a ceramic treatment. The original windscreen is cracked at the top on both sides, a classic failing on the 550 Barchetta, and will need to be replaced, as will all four tyres, which, although not worn, date from 2012. In the boot, you will find the two helmets in their special red bags which were sold with the model and to which collectors are very attached. A history file is also supplied, with several documents including bills, the filled-in warranty booklet (the service book was mislaid during a house move), various manuals in French in their Ferrari wallet, a valuation report, period brochure and various safety inspection reports. This 550 Barchetta represents a splendid opportunity to acquire an extremely rare open-top Ferrari with a front-mounted V12 engine, beautifully preserved and sold with its original helmets; capable of reaching 300km/h, it is a tribute to the famous designer and coachbuilder for whom it was produced. This car will provide you with a ticket to enter the top historic events, as well as extraordinary sensations and great pleasure behind the wheel. Photos © Alexis Rube
