Powerful, responsive and more reliable than previous versions, it propels a machine whose modest weight remains one of its major assets against European competition and the first Japanese challenges beginning to loom on the horizon. 1968 was a perilous year for European manufacturers, as Japanese brands were preparing to shake up the market. The MK3 is one of the last purely European responses to this threat, built with the resources and conviction of a manufacturer at the height of its powers, with production limited to the year 1968.
