1964 La Rioja Alta, Viña Ardanza - Rioja Reserva Especial - 3 Bottles (0.75L)

VIÑA ARDANZA RESERVA ESPECIAL 1964 (3 Bottles) Bodegas La Rioja Alta S.A. - (Haro, La Rioja) Vintage year not written on label. D.O.: RIOJA Rioja Vintage Rating 1964: EXCELLENT (considered the best or one of the best vintages of the 20th century in Rioja) "Throughout our history, only three vintages of Viña Ardanza have earned the Special Qualification 1964, 1973 and 2001. The rain, the sun, the cold and the heat alternated in the best possible way to make Viña Ardanza Reserva Especial a unique wine." Robert Parker 97/100 "The 1964 Reserva Especial is more deeply colored than the 1973. Its multi-dimensional bouquet jumps from the glass. Sweet, elegant yet powerful on the palate, traditional Rioja does not get much better than this. It shows no sign of deterioration. Vina Ardanza’s wines are labeled Reserva with three exceptions. In what La Rioja Alta considers the greatest years (there have been three to date, 2001, 1973, and 1964) the wine is called Reserva Especial."
