La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 – 1964 Vintage Bottle: Retains all labels; the netting is intact. It is not the original netting, but the wine displays excellent color. "904" is a historic name for a La Rioja Alta S.A. label. It was previously labeled as "Reserva 904," even though the wine was produced as a Gran Reserva. In fact, the 1964 vintage of the 904 is documented as a Gran Reserva. Winery: La Rioja Alta, S.A. — one of Spain's most prestigious wineries, founded in 1890 and located in Haro, La Rioja (Spain). It is renowned for its traditional Gran Reserva wines, which undergo long periods of aging in both barrel and bottle before release. Aging: 6 years in American oak barrels (with manual racking). Initial fermentation and stabilization in large wooden vats. 3–4 years in the bottle before commercial release. In total: over 9–10 years before reaching the market. Wines with such prolonged aging should not be compared to modern wines. This bottle is intended for collectors or palates accustomed to older vintage wines. Having passed its optimal drinking window, I cannot guarantee its drinkability. It has always been stored in a private, temperature-controlled cellar. IMPORTANT!
