1856-S Liberty Head Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS).

1856-S Liberty Head Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). Exceptionally well preserved with plenty of detail at the presented grade level. Vivid deep honey-apricot color enhances the appeal of this premium quality About Uncirculated eagle. A scarce to rare issue in all grades, most of the 68,000 eagles struck in the San Francisco Mint during 1856 have long since been lost to commercial use. Far finer than the typically offered survivor, which is well worn if not also impaired, this fully original and problem free AU coin is sure to see spirited bidding at auction. Provenance: From our sale of the Fairmont Collection - Athenee Set, November 2024 Showcase Auction, lot 4132. PCGS# 8621. NGC ID: 263S. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
