1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 55-l, W-5300. Rarity-5. No Sprig Above

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 55-l, W-5300. Rarity-5. No Sprig Above Plow, PLURIRUS. Fine-15 (PCGS). SHI DS3, a scarcer die state for this Maris number, although not a major rarity. Right central obverse soft due to die swell, date running off flan at lower right, border denticulation missing at left, but otherwise all areas show suitably bold detail in the presence of moderately heavy wear. Deep golden-brown overall with some olive-russet highlights at the peripheries. Surfaces are granular with light pitting, but no sizeable blemishes assail the eye during in-hand appreciation. The Condition Census for this Maris number consists of several AU specimens; this is a respectable example in certified Fine-15. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 45426. NGC ID: 2B4T. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
