1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 17-87A, W-7900. Rarity-2. GEORGIVS

1787 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 17-87A, W-7900. Rarity-2. GEORGIVS III, Group II. EF-45 (PCGS). Lightly struck in the centers, where original planchet roughness is more pronounced on the obverse. Detail is bolder toward the peripheries, centering fairly good, upper right obverse border only lightly into the digits in the Roman numeral III. Saddle brown surfaces with a tinge of olive overall, hints of faded mint color in the protected areas around some of the design elements on the reverse. A touch of granularity is more noticeable on the obverse, but no significant marks are seen on either side. This is a nice-looking Vlack 17-87A, and it would do equally well in a better-grade type or variety set. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 469. NGC ID: 2B47.
