1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.8-H.2, W-2625. Rarity-5. Mailed

1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.8-H.2, W-2625. Rarity-5. Mailed Bust Left. VF-35 (PCGS). 141.1 grains. Nice circulated cameo appearance for both sides, the fields are generally medium olive-copper that contrasts with lighter golden-brown on the design elements. Blushes of crimson red in the fields are associated with light scale, surfaces also finely granular with some light, ancient build up around and within some of the motifs. The in-hand appearance is smooth in the absence of significant flan flaws and sizeable marks, and there is nice gloss to the overall hard, frosty texture. The upper peripheral design elements approach the edge of the flan, lower and left reverse borders into the bottoms of the date digits and tops of the letters in INDE, none of this to much detriment as overall detail is bold in the presence of moderate wear. Obverse edge very lightly bruised at 6:30; a very shallow curved planchet clip outside the letters ON in CONNEC is as made. Provenance: From the John Bolger Collection. Purchased from Anthony Terranova, July 2002. PCGS# 686360. BASE PCGS# 331. NGC ID: 2B2G. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
