"1783" (ca. 1860) Washington Draped Bust Copper. Restrike. Musante

"1783" (ca. 1860) Washington Draped Bust Copper. Restrike. Musante GW-107, Vlack 17-L, Baker-3, var., W-Unlisted. No Button. Copper. Plain Edge. Proof-65 BN (PCGS). A scarcer variety of this popular restrike, neither the Baker nor Whitman references include attributions for plain edge strikings from the Vlack 17-L dies. This piece exhibits richly original mahogany and copper-rose patina with strong underlying reflectivity in the fields. The design elements are thickly frosted in texture with full, razor sharp strike detail throughout. This is a lovely Gem Proof, expertly produced and carefully preserved, and it will please even the most discerning numismatist. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 682. NGC ID: 2B6S.
